What is Delicious?

Delicious is a social bookmarking service that lets you tag, save, manage, and share websites online. It allows you to have access to your bookmarks from whichever computer you may be on, whether it’s your PC at work or at home. Delicious also allows you to share and recommend bookmarks with any friends who may also be using this service, as well as allow you to subscribe to other users who may have tags and bookmarks of interest.

Step-by-step instructions

1. To create a Delicious account, go to http://delicious.com . At the upper right-hand side of the page, you have the option to “Join Now” or “Sign In”. Click on “Join Now”. (If you already have an account, disregard this and click on “Sign In”.)
2. Next it will ask you if you have a Yahoo! account. If you do, you can sign in using your Yahoo! ID. If you do not, you will need to click on the “Sign Up” link at the bottom of the page and follow the instructions provided.
3. This next page will give you an overview of what Delicious does, as well as lets you review your profile. It also lets you set up a link for your new Delicious account, so that you will be able to find it on the Internet and share it with others.
4. Once you pick a link, you will be given the option of adding Delicious buttons to your web browser, so that you will be able to tag pages directly from your browser instead of through the Delicious website.
5. You’re now able to add bookmarks to your account! This next page gives you the options to click on a “How do I get started?” link if you need additional help, save a new bookmark, or import already existing bookmarks from your browser.

From here, play around with the site. Add your own bookmarks, search through some popular ones to see if there are any you would like to add, or look up ones you might be interested it.

You will be able to add other users to your network, allowing you to see these users’ latest bookmarks in one place for you to use and enjoy.

You will also be able to subscribe to tags, allowing you to watch for other users’ bookmarks on certain topics. For example, if you are interested in world news, you would be able to subscribe to the tag “bbc” and would then be able to see any bookmarks tagged as that.
