Thing 22

Welcome to Thing 22!

Explore one or more tools of choice:
Throughout 23 things we’ve explored a very small sampling of all the different Web 2.0 tools that are out there, just waiting to enhance our online experience. If we had the time, there are sooo many more we could explore. (And if you’re this far into the program, I think know what I mean.) ;) The Web 2.0 directory Go2Web20 has hundreds 0f Web 2.0 tools and applications in its database. Although only time will tell which of these new collaborative, social networking and information tools will remain on top, one thing is for sure, they’re not going to go away (at least anytime soon).
  • Select any site/tool from that interests you.
  • Explore the site you selected.
  • Create a blog post about your discovery. What did you like or dislike about the tool? What were the site’s useful features? Could you see any applications for its use in a library / archival / museum setting?

  1. There are soooooooo many tools to use and try. I guess you have to decide which tool is good for the application that you need it for. It is a good way to help make presentations look alot better than the good old days.......

  2. Checked out Quizlet - seems useful on the surface but how do we know that the content is authoritative? We don't (I didn't even see ratings) so I would hesitate to memorize facts that haven't been verified or at least are from someone you trust.

  3. On the other hand, I can see it as a fun and effective tool to create your own flashcards as a method of studying.

  4. Love Gliffy! It is a tool to create diagrams - flow charts, floor plans - you name it. For work purposes, I see creating work flows for new procedures (e.g. DSP) and then inserting it into a Wiki. Don't think one can save it to a hard drive - only to a Gliffy account in the cloud.

  5. I checked out Springpad. Definitely useful for me, since I would lose my head if it wasn't attached. The only problem that I had with it was that it kept telling me I needed to upgrade my browser. :S I wasn't able to get its full functionality because of this. I will be looking into it further at home.
